Quarter 1, Week 8 - Communicative Styles Part 4

This week is our last week in Quarter 1. "From Sandals To Sneakers - Shoes Step Forward" Is our reading and comprehension test in Quarter 1, week 8. We didn't study a new lesson this week but our teacher assign us to read "From Sandals To Sneakers - Shoes Step Forward" The story revolves around the kind of materials that can be used in shoes and how it starts or the history of it. It's also a look back at how sandals evolved into sneakers.

Our task or activities in week 8 is the making of our week 8 blog, and our second mastery test which is for the topic, conditionals, and types of communicative styles. I have developed like being more polite by using the right modals, I'm less worried about expressing my opinion and expressing it much using the types of conditionals, being careful about the tone of the things I say with the type of communicative styles I used depending on the occasion, who I am talking to and the scenario.

Quarter 1, Week 6 - Communicative Styles Part 2

Our topic is all about Communicative Styles. A communication style (also known as conversational style) is how we share information with others through language. Much of Tannen's work on conversational styles focus on "typical" styles of men and women and how these gender differences can lead to conflict, misunderstandings, and stress. In week 6 the activity or task we did is a mastery test. I learned one of the Anglo-American literature icon and who's the author of the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and his name is Mark Twain.

I also learned more about our topic in quarter 1 because of our mastery test. I find it difficult for some of the questions in our mastery test because some words are difficult for me to understand. The highlight of the topic is the type of communicative style and that is the word intimate because that reminds me sharing Intimate conversations with your family, friends, or close ones is really important because it shows how you care and important they are.

Quarter 1, Week 7 - Communicative Styles Part 3

Our topic was all about Communicative Styles. The Communicative Styles focuses on the use of different communication styles for various situations. The Casual communicative styles use jargon, slang, and colloquial words. This topic can help us to improve our language and communication skills. We will also prevent being weird or out of place in terms of communicative styles. This lesson focuses on the use of different communication styles for various situations. This also deals with speech styles portraying how a language is characterized in terms of the degree of formality. The activities or tasks we did is reading and comprehension pre-test.

I learned about one of the Anglo-American literature icons and who's the author of light in my darkness and her name is Helen Adams Keller. I learned about litotes which means it's an ironic understatement in which an affirmative is expressed by the negative of its contrary. I also learned that casual communicative styles use jargon, slang, and colloquial words. I find it a bit difficult to find the contrary in our activity or task we did. The highlight of the topic is "Employing Appropriate Communicative Styles". It is about choosing the right words or tone when talking to someone about something and it must be appropriate based on who you are talking to.

Quarter 1, Week 5 - Communicative Styles Part 1

Our topic in week 5 is Communicative Styles. There are 7 Communicative Styles, and these are casual, formal, consultative, aggressive, passive, frozen, and lastly is intimate. We also deal with speech styles portraying how a language is characterized in terms of the degree of formality. I kinda having a hard time in activities where I have to find the correct modals to make the sentence sensible because I'm not that good at grammar and kinda confused in some of the sentences.

I learned that the way we communicate has a big impact on how we get on with people and get the things we want. Good communication skills can help us avoid conflict and solve problems, they're also important for making friends and having healthy. I also learned that there is called Speech style means a communicative style that portrays how a language is characterized in terms of the degree of formality. I find it a little difficult to understand the new lesson cause I'm still a little bit confused. The highlight of the discussion is communication because communication is important that we used in everyday life.

Quarter 1, Week 4 - Understanding Conditionals Part 2

Our second lesson in English 9 is all about Using Conditionals in Expressing Arguments. There are several structures in English that we call conditionals or if conditionals. The word "condition" means "situation or circumstance". There are 4 conditionals and it is zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, and lastly third conditional. Conditionals are used in expressing stands or arguments which may help persuade others to move or act and even change their thoughts.

The activities are a little bit easy because the lesson is easy to understand. I learned that Conditionals are statements expressing the result of a particular condition. Conditional statements also may appear in both affirmative and negative structures. I find it a little difficult to understand is finding the correct conditionals because some of the sentences were a little confusing for me. The highlight of the topic is "expressing" because in this topic Conditionals is used in expressing stands or arguments, and in arguments is where we also express our feelings in the argument.

Modals were our first topic in Quarter 1 English 9 and it's a little bit confusing at first but when you got to learn or know it, it will become easy to understand especially if you listen or learn it carefully. Modals can be used before ordinary verbs and express meanings such as permission, possibility, certainty, and necessity.

I learned that modals are auxiliary or helping verbs. It can be used by expressing, permission, obligation, and prohibition. Sometimes I find it difficult for me is finding the correct modal for the sentence. The highlight of the topic is those modals that "Polite" because it means when we ask a question, the question that we ask or the way we ask it, is polite.

Somi: Can you guys think of a way to protect ourselves from this virus?

Ella: We must always stay indoors so we can be safe from covid 19.

Joon: We shall only go out when we needed, like when we need to buy groceries.

Somi: And when we need to go out, I think we should always bring alcohol with us.

Joon: Yes, and we need to wear a face mask and face shield also when going out.

Ella: And we have to always follow or listen to the health protocol and do social distancing.

Somi: Also we should do cleaning more often in our house to remove bacteria or viruses there.

Ella: You're right we should do these things to avoid getting coronavirus.
